Automatic Playback / Projection Scheduler

Learn how to schedule a Project for automatic playback.

  • Direct sunlight must not enter the projector's lens; it will damage the chip.
  • LM3X projectors are equipped with a mechanical shutter, called the Sun Shield, that protects the lens against direct sunlight.
  • When you schedule the projector to play, it will open the Sun Shield for the whole duration of the Scheduled Task.
  • A projector with an open Sun Shield is critically vulnerable to direct sunlight; therefore, always make sure the projector is not pointing towards the sun for the entire scheduled time.

There are three different frame synchronization (Multi-Projection) modes in Lumiverse™: "Single Projector", "Ethernet Group", and "Wireless Group". The user must select the correct frame synchronization mode when scheduling the system. The system stores the last selected mode for next use.

  • "Single Projector" - Use this mode if you use an individual projector.
  • "Ethernet Group" - Use this mode to synchronize a group of projectors connected via a LAN cable. Check eligibility: Navigate to Settings > Network > Ethernet Group Settings. It should say "Configuration OK". If the configuration is not working, try configuring one projector on the network as "Main" (Master) and all other projectors as "Secondary" (Slave). If that doesn't help, a LAN network is not present, the LAN network is damaged, or the router is not a supported type.
  • "Wireless Group" - Use this mode to wirelessly synchronize a group of projectors. This method uses a GPS wireless signal to synchronize video frames. Make sure all projectors in the group receive GPS data correctly: Navigate to each device's Settings > Advanced > Sensors, and check whether the interface displays "GPS available: yes" and shows GPS data in white font color. If the Sensors interface displays "GPS available: yes" and shows data in white font, your projector is currently receiving wireless synchronization data. If the Sensors interface displays "GPS available: no" and shows GPS data in dimmed blue font, the projector has previously received wireless synchronization data but is not receiving it at the moment. Common causes of a missing GPS signal are: an older projector model, an obstructed sky view, indoor testing, or rare SIM card interference blocking the internal GPS antenna. Contact support@LM3X.com with your projector serial numbers and a description of the installation location. Our technicians will remotely connect to your device, diagnose the issue, and apply a fix or recommend solutions.
  • When you schedule the system for auto-play, it follows the internal Time Zone setting
  • Make sure the Time Zone is correct: Settings > Advanced > Internal Clock > "Timezone"
  • If using multiple projectors in sync, always use the G- Group Controller for scheduling
  • Click the Power Button (main menu, top-right corner)
  • Click the "Projection Scheduler" bar
  • Here you can see the current device time in the top-right corner. If not correct, change the device's Time Zone
  • The "Enabled on Selected Days" option lets you globally block all scheduled Tasks for the selected days.
  • Click the "Create New" button at the bottom of the screen
  • This is the "Create Task" form, where you define which Project should play at what time.
  • "Type": leave this setting on "Lumiverse (recommended)"
  • "Play": select the Project that you want to schedule. You can leave it on "Actual" and not specify a Project, then the Scheduler will play the currently active project.
  • "Every Day": you can enable this option to avoid specifying a calendar range [day from->day until] for the schedule, keeping it valid forever.
  • "Enabled on Selected Days": here, you can block the Task from playing on selected days.
  • "From": select the first playback start day
  • "To": select the last playback start day
  • "Start at": select the time for the playback to start
  • "Play until": select the time for the playback to end
  • "Multi-projection": select the correct video frame synchronization method
  • "Disable": You can turn off the Task here. If you want to keep it but temporarily disable it, you can do so here.
  • Click "Ok" to complete the Task creation
  • Now you can see the newly created Task in the Projection Scheduler overview. You can create many different Scheduler Tasks.

Each projector follows its own locally stored Scheduler. When you create a Scheduler Task in the G-Group Controller, the task is copied to every projector in the same group. However, if a projector is not online at the moment of creation, the Task copying can fail. If you experience issues with group scheduling or poor/interrupted internet, make sure that your schedules have copied correctly to all individual projectors.

  • Open the G- Group Controller and navigate to the Power Button > Projection Scheduler
  • Open all individual projector controllers in parallel browser tabs and navigate to the Power Button > Projection Scheduler as well
  • Switch between all tabs and make sure the Projection Scheduler list of Tasks is the same on the G- Group Controller and all devices.
  • If not, delete all Tasks and recreate them.
  • If you start "Projection" manually with the On/Off toggle, the Scheduled Task will not play until you end the manual playback with the On/Off toggle.
  • Make sure the manual playback control (Power Button) is set to "Projection: off" to ensure proper Projection Scheduler operation.
  • If you experience a poor show start synchronization, if one projector starts slightly earlier than the other, the cause is most likely that the Preload setting is absent or too short.
  • Preloader delays the Project playback start to load all data correctly before the content plays.
  • Preloader creates a short delay that occurs after you click the Project to play.
  • If you experience poor show start synchronization, do the following:
  1. Activate Preload in the affected Project settings
    • Each Project can independently turn preloading on or off.
    • For projector groups: Set this in the G- Group Controller to ensure all projectors use the same setting; mismatches cause desynchronization.
    • Navigate to Main Menu > Projects > Select Project: Three Dots (⋯) > Project Settings
    • Toggle the Preload checkbox on (recommended for most projects)
  1. Set the Preloader Time (Scene Delay Time)
    • All projectors in the group must have the same Preloader Time setting, otherwise there will be a sync mismatch.
    • Navigate to each projector's Settings > Advanced > Preloader Time > Scene Delay Time
    • Default Preload: 3 seconds (sufficient for simple projects)
    • If the default 3-second preload duration doesn't achieve a smooth show start, increase to 10 seconds (or more). Longer Preload duration helps with complex Projects that use many high-resolution media frames or layers, or with slow internet connections.

Projectors are set to reboot every day in the early morning to clear memory and shut down a potentially forgotten manual Projection: On

  • Auto-Reboot is set in Settings > Advanced > Automatic Reboot
  • If you schedule a show, make sure the Auto Reboot time doesn't interfere with it
  • We strongly recommend keeping the LM3X projectors online at all times. Communication with Lumiverse™ servers is vital to the system's full functionality.
  • Current offline ability is limited to a single Project, stored in cache. You can cache a project by playing it once. Then, as long as you don't switch to another project, it remains cached and can be played offline with the Projection Scheduler.
  • Stay tuned, many new offline features will be released in the near future.
